For many, to study Islam means going to an Islamic institution. That’s why some Indonesian students go to the Middle East or to local Islamic higher learning institutions such as the State Islamic University (UIN) in Jakarta or Yogyakarta.
This idea is partly justified if your understanding of the word “study” is to convert to a certain understanding of Islam. But it’s certainly incorrect if by “study” you mean to explore knowledge.

The preaching thinking as an inviting process that must be success makes the preaching practice become coarse and full of force exercised, whereas Islam is peace religion and demand the Muslim’s patient. To be patient in preaching is easy to be said, but difficult in practice. However it doesn’t mean da’I should be stagnant in preaching. For that reason, patient in preaching should be realized and become priority.

Islam is moderate and tolerant religion and unknown radicalism and liberalism. For that reason, even thought the radical and liberal’s group try to be developed, it predicted would destroyed because not suitable with the Islamic teaching. The great Imam (leader) from Nabawi mosque in Medina, Sheikh Dr Ali bin Abdurrahman Al Hudzaifi, in Friday’s sermon in Baiturrahim’s mosque at president’s residence stated Islam teach the Muslim to respect all human being without leave the Islamic teaching and concern their religion, race, group and others. Such values invite the kings in the past interested with Islam and most of them embraced Islam. Finally the great imam remains Muslim to improve the piety toward Allah SWT.

A long with the renewal of Islamic thinking in Middle East in 19th century, North East Asia is also face the same. Muhammadiyah is the one of Islamic organization that accepts such ideas. Modernization of education by adopting the western educational model becomes the one of Muhammadiyah product toward the renewal. For that reason, Muhammadiyah called as modernist group, the group that promotes the renewal of Islam by adopting the Western’s modernity.

The appearance of Islamic movement, which is followed radical course getting increase after the overthrow Orde Baru on 1998. The movement is not only shows the mass power, but also express the violence such founded in damaging the nightclub.

The appearing radicalism and extremism caused by the dissolving case in Middle East. The violence in Iraq is still occurred until now and there is no signal for the conflict would be end. The suicide bomb explodes every day. The bomb is the expression disappointment of certain group of Muslim toward other, and the bomb purposed to group of people who hold the authority and suspected united with foreign troops (America and its alliance).

The world community needs the new civilization identity. The recent identity of civilization represents the bad image that threatens the humanist and peace global arrangement.  The contemporary global arrangement grows in Western civilization with its colonialist-imperialist and Islam with its radical-terrorist. The world society may not depend too much toward the both stereotype.

How’s the management of political party measure and evaluate the party? May be they said that they have got successful. Actually, they may not see the real quality of the party just according to their own perspective. So, knowing the image of party occurred trough constituent, as stated by Lacanian “Dialektika Pengakuan” (Madan Sarup, 2003). The party needs other to evaluate them, other admitting.

According to Martin Van Bruinessen, an expert of Islam from Holland, the Islamic development in Indonesia couldn’t be separated from influence of Tasawwuf (1995). It showed from tarekat role in spreading and management of Ummah since 14 century until before Indonesian independent. In this era, tasawwuf represented throw tarekat movement. It is not only in outskirts of Islamic culture, but also in the culture’s center such in Mecca and Medina.

Basically the conflict with SARA (tribe, religion, and race) nuance happened in last 8 years shows the lack of society and elite appreciation toward democracy. Democracy holds high the low enforcement. There is no democracy without low enforcement since such democracy would trigger the anarchism. Sara conflict occurred caused by the lack of low enforcement and ethic appreciation in solving the social and nation’s issues.
